There’s great power in storytelling. Storytelling is a tool that lets us share the lived experiences of frontline communities. Whether it’s through speaking up during public comment events, sourcing ideas for community solutions, or influencing policy by showing policy-makers the experiences, joys, and pains of the people we serve, storytelling helps us build power and ensure our voice is heard.
Community storytelling is strategic. As a method of advocacy and organizing, stories invite us to slow down, listen authentically, and inspire action. Especially in the environmental justice movement, we need storytelling to bridge gaps between communities to propel us forward together in our fight against climate change and crisis.
We know that climate change disproportionately affects communities of color and low-income communities. At Brightline, we’re committed to sharing stories of and by the people most affected, often most marginalized, to the broader environmental narrative.
What does environmental justice mean for you? Share how your community is impacted by climate injustice, as well as your vision for a green future.
